The University of Miami Frost School of Music is offering On-Line Music Theory to students across the nation who may not have had the time or the opportunity to study music theory in high school. If you are serious about enrolling in an undergraduate music degree program, would like to improve your auditions and get a head-start in your music career, then our On-Line Music Theory course at the University of Miami Frost School of Music is a great opportunity for you. You will study notation, intervals, scales, basic ear training and triads. The course is taught by professors from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, so expert help is never more than a click away, and because the course is on-line, you can learn at your own pace, using any computer.

On-Line Music Theory is being offered because so many universities and colleges have expressed that many of the incoming freshman do not have the skills necessary to enter their first semester theory/musicianship classes. We designed this course to meet the needs of those students, by creating a hands-on, drill and practice, instructor-led learning that could be taken during the summer, fall or spring semesters. On-Line Music Theory really is a very exciting course because it is a competency based approach that really customizes the experience for each student. It enables students to work on areas where they are weakest, including basic ear training, and not have to waste time on concepts that they already comprehend.
