THE FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC PRESENTS AN EVENING OF OPERA
FEBRUARY 26, 2004 AT 8 PM
CORAL GABLES, FL – On Saturday, February 26 at 8 p.m., the Frost School of Music celebrates its annual Opera Gala featuring seven returning alumni, Javier Abreu, Misty Bermudez, Laura Montes, Mandy Perna, Nicholas Perna, Christina Villaverde, and Irene Patti Swartz-Hammond. Ms. Swartz-Hammond was the first vocal performance major at the Frost School of Music to receive the Arturo di Fillipi scholarship and is the head of the vocal competition sponsored by the Young Patronesses of the Opera. The evening’s performances, which are directed by the Frost School’s opera program director Russell Young, include selections from Verdi's La Traviata and La Forza del Destino, Puccini's La Boheme and Turandot, Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment, as well as other arias and ensembles of Bizet, Mozart, Wagner, Delibes, and Massenet.
