“FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC UNVEILS FANTASY”

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami’s Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music recently unveiled its latest addition to their collection of Leonardo Nierman art. Fantasy, a sculpture almost 10 feet high and 17 feet long, was unveiled Sunday in the courtyard of the new Marta and Austin Weeks Music Library and Technology Center.

The sculpture joins a tapestry displayed in Gusman Hall and Music For Your Eyes, a sculpture on display just outside the new Music Library and Technology Center, both by celebrated Mexican artist Leonardo Nierman.

Nierman’s works are on display in more than 50 prominent institutions worldwide including the Vatican Museum in Rome, the Museums of Modern Art in Madrid and Mexico, and the National Gallery in Australia.

The sculpture, as well as the other two Nierman pieces, was donated by UM Grand Founder Paul Yelin. A dedicated art and music lover, Yelin donates works of art to institutions in the United States and abroad. He says of the work, “Fantasy is an uplifting, peaceful distraction – beauty in motion.”
