WILLIAM BOLCOM AND JOAN MORRIS IN CONCERT
AT THE FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC
THE STAMPS FAMILY DISTINGUISHED VISITORS SERIES
2004 - 2005 SEASON
Coral Gables, FL – The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami presents Pulitzer-prize winning composer/pianist William Bolcom and mezzo-soprano Joan Morris as part of the 2004 - 2005 Stamps Family Charitable Foundation Distinguished Visitors Series. Since their first performance together in 1973, Bolcom and Morris have captivated audiences across the nation and abroad.
Heralded as “one of the great musical collaborations of our time” by The Boston Globe, this husband and wife duo will share their insights and experiences as artists during two special sessions with music students. William Bolcom leads a composition forum on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 10:10 a.m. Also on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 12:20 p.m., Joan Morris leads a master class. Both events are in the Victor E. Clarke Recital Hall in the L. Austin Weeks Center for Recording and Performance and are free and open to the public.
On Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m. Bolcom and Morris perform in concert at the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall on the Coral Gables campus. The concert will feature Bolcom’s famous Cabaret songs. Tickets are $20 Adult/$15 Senior/$10 Student. For more information please call (305) 284-4940.
All events will be held at the Frost School of Music located at 1314 Miller Drive on the University of Miami’s Coral Gables Campus.
Bolcom and Morris have appeared at Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd Street Y and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; Jordan Hall in Boston; and the Chamber Music Society of Philadelphia; as well as at the Tanglewood, Spoleto USA and Ravinia festivals. Their international engagements have included concerts in London, Moscow, Paris, Lisbon, Cologne, Istanbul, Cairo, and Florence. Bolcom and Morris reside in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where they both serve on the faculty of the University of Michigan School of Music.

In its third year, the Stamps Family Distinguished Visitors Series brings exceptional leaders in their fields to UM’s Coral Gables Campus. The Stamps Family Distinguished Visitors Series brings in music industry leaders and scholars – from performers to composers to producers – to work with music students and share their insights into the very dynamic and evolving business of music.
