The Bergonzi String Quartet performed on the Mainly Mozart Series in Coral Gables and then traveled to northern Michigan where they  performed and taught at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in Upper Michigan during the month of June. In addition to performing quartet recitals, orchestra and opera concerts, the Bergonzi Quartet presented solo master classes, workshops and children’s concerts to students from around the Midwest. Next, the quartet traveled to Wisconsin to perform and teach at the Madeline Island Chamber Music Camp during the month of July. 32 outstanding full-scholarship string players from around the country participated and were coached and mentored by the Bergonzi Quartet. In September the quartet performed twice on the Festival Miami 2000, and in December,  they flew to Augusta, Georgia for a weekend of concerts. In February they toured Michigan where they performed at Grand Valley State University, Alma College and conducted a residency at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan. The quartet’s all-Mendelssohn CD will be released soon on the Centaur label, and their Cadman Quintet collaboration with fellow faculty member, Paul Posnak for the Naxos label is also due to be released this year.
