Pamela
McConnell, prior to joining the Bergonzi String Quartet, was a member of the Rowe
Quartet, the ensemble that succeeded the Cleveland and Budapest quartets in the
prestigious residency as quartet in residence at the State University of New York,
Buffalo. She has appeared as soloist and in chamber programs at Lincoln Center in New
York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and in concert halls in many major cities of
the United States and Europe. Ms. McConnell has performed numerous times on radio and
television, and has received a Peabody Award for the program, "The Rowe Quartet Plays
on your Imagination." Since her move to the University of Miami, she has been
appointed String Program Director, and is Founder and Director of Strings for Kids, a
string instructional program for children. She has also taught and performed at the
Sewanee Summer Music Center. Pamela McConnell can be heard on the Orion, Audiofon, and
Fleur de Son Classics labels. Ms. McConnell plays a Gabrielli viola made in Florence in
1770.
