Wind EnsembleGary Green, conductor The University of Miami Wind Ensemble consists of the finest wind and percussion players in the University who perform at regional and national festivals throughout the United States. Active in the performance of "new music," the ensemble has commissioned, premiered, and/or performed compositions by Charles Campbell, Michael Colgrass, Kenneth Fuchs, Clarke McCallister, Thomas Sleeper, James Syler, and Eric Whitacre and sponsored residencies by such notable twentieth century composers as Colgrass, Fuchs, David Maslanka, Michael Daugherty, Robert Xavier Rodriguez, and James Syler. A recent national distribution of the Wind Ensemble's recording of Colgrass' Urban Requiem on the Albany Label received rave reviews from American Record Guide and Fanfare for performance and contribution to the wind band repertoire. Former members of the ensemble hold positions in prestigious ensembles and serve as teachers and conductors throughout the world. Back to Ensembles |
