Victor E. Clarke

  Victor E. Clarke, a lifelong resident of Miami, follows the philanthropic example set by his parents Victor P. and Charlotte H. Clarke. Gifts from the Clarke family have supported construction of the James L. Knight Physics Building, the Rosenstiel School of Marine Science, the School of Medicine, the School of Business Administration, and an unrestricted endowment fund for the University of Miami.

Victor E. Clarke is the chairman and chief executive officer of Gables Engineering, Inc., an electronic components firm founded by his father in 1946. Mr. Clarke received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Cornell University in 1956 and joined Gables Engineering the following year. He is a director of Sun Bank/Miami, N.A. and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. In recognition of his contributions to engineering, Mr. Clarke was inducted into Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, in January of 1986.

Victor E. Clarke is well known for his service and support to the cause of higher education in Miami. He has been a member of the Florida International University Foundation Board of Trustees since 1979 and a trustee of the University of Miami since 1982. The dedication of the Victor E. Clarke Recital Hall is a reflection of Mr. Clarke's generous commitment to the Frost School of Music.
