Gilberto Almaguer

Gilberto F. Almaguer
, Lecturer (Dance), is a dancer, choreographer, and ballet lecturer. He studied with G. Milenoff and Ballet Concerto CO., where for many years he was a first soloist and dancer throughout Central and South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the United States. He later studied in New York under the direction of M. Nevesleka, V. Nemtchinova, David Howard, and V. Dokoudovsky. In his position as guest dancer, Almaguer performed principal roles in such notable ballets as Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Nutcracker, Les Sylphydes, La Fille Mal Gardée, Raymonda, and many more. He has also shared the stage with many luminaries of the ballet world, such as Cynthia Gregory, Galina and Valery Panov, Natalia Makarova, Carla Fraci, Melissa Hayden, Mariana Tcherkassky, Ivan Nagy, Rudolph Nureyev, Desmond Kelly, Eleanor D'Antuono, Royes Fernandez, Lupe Serrano, and Alexis Yudenish, just to name a few. He has been a guest principal with Ballet Bellas Artes, Dance Festival, Grateli, Choreographic Ballet Co., Fundacion Teresa Carreno, Ballet Etudes Co., Ballet Municipal, L'Atelier de Ballet, Jacksonville Ballet Theatre, and the Miami Opera, and many others. He has conducted seminars and performed in every phase of the theatre, from concert to commercial stage, including television. He is a frequent Ballet Master for innumerable ballet schools and workshops. He founded and served as principal dancer with the Florida Dance Development Foundation and has appeared with several leading Florida ballet companies. Almaguer is listed in Who's Who in Entertainment (1989/90), Dance World Book, and International Platform Association.
