Huifang Chen

Huifang Chen, Professor, is a native of Taiwan, received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and her Master of Music from the University of Miami.  She was a member of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra since 1994 until its demise in 2003.  Chen is currently the Orchestra Director at the Stoneman Douglas High School and is also on faculty at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami.  She is the Associate Conductor of the Florida Youth Orchestra’s Principle Orchestra and she is the Concertmaster of the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra and acting concertmaster of the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia and Miami Bach Society.  As a soloist, she has appeared with many orchestras around the globe.  She was named the 1999 Young Concert Artist of the Year by the National Concert Hall of Taipei, Taiwan and a Concerto Competition Winner at the University of Miami in 2003.  Chen has been heard on National Public Radio, and seen on PBS.  She has performed the National Anthem multiple times for the Miami Dolphin’s football team.  Her first solo album “A Musical Journey” was released summer of 2006.
