Marguerite Williams
Marguerite
Lynn Williams has been the recipient of numerous national and international
awards including prizes from the National Federation of Music Clubs, the
American Opera Society, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the
American Harp Society, Sigma Alpha Iota and two-time winner of the Ann Adams
Competition. A highly sought after performer, her career has taken her around
the world performing in such venues as Carnegie Hall in New York City,
Shostakovich Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Symphony Center in Chicago.
Recent performances include appearances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,
the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic, and the International
Chamber Ensemble. She is a founding member of the International Chamber
Artists, Project Copernicus, and Fifth House Ensembles.
Ms. Williams current regular performing engagements include: principal harp
positions with the New World Symphony, the Colorado Music Festival (Boulder,
CO), and with the International Chamber Artists. Previously Williams was the
principal harpist of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the New Philharmonic
Orchestra, the DuPage Opera Orchestra as well as guest artist with the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and
Joffrey Ballet.
Ms. Williams received a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music in
New York, a Performer's Certificate also from the Eastman School, as well as a
Master of Music degree from Chicago College of the Performing Arts. Her
teachers have included Sarah Bullen, principal harpist of the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra; Kathleen Bride, internationally recognized soloist; and Ursula
Kwasnicka, principal harpist of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
