Cayce Brecheen Benton, soprano, has performed on the professional stage in opera and musical theater and in recital for over 20 years. She has served as artist in residence with Virginia Opera and her extended regional experience includes principal roles in such productions as Carmen, Company, Man of LaMancha, Oklahoma!, The Fantasticks, and Three Penny Opera. As a soloist, Ms. Benton has appeared regionally with chorus and orchestras. In Florida, she has been frequently featured in Sousa at the Symphony and was guest artist with the Southwest Florida Symphony in Stephen Albert’s Flower of the Mountain. She has been among the winners of national and regional vocal competitions and continues to perform as a concert artist.

A native of Louisiana, Cayce Benton holds a Bachelor of Music from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa in vocal performance and pedagogy. She continued her studies in Austria at the Franz Schubert Institut and in 2001 earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance from the University of Miami. In addition to teaching private voice, she has taught in public and private schools, was associate professor at Eckerd College, Christopher Newport University and Northwestern State University and has served as director of church choirs as well. Presently, she is associate faculty at the University of Miami and director of music at The Church By the Sea, Bal Harbour, Florida.
