Raymond Barr, Professor and Chair, Department of Musicology,
received a B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University, and M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He has studied at Carnegie Institute
of Technology, Oxford University, Freie Unversitat, and Musikhochschule (West
Berlin). An Art Song scholar and author, Barr has numerous entries in The New
Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. He has served as president of the Southeastern
United States chapter of the American Musicological Society and as a member
of the College Music Society's national board of directors.
