J. Robert Floyd, Professor (Piano) and Chair, Department of Keyboard
Performance, received B.M. and M.M. degrees from the University of North Texas,
and a D.M.A. from Indiana University. Floyd was a student of Silvio and Isabel
Scionti and Sidney Foster. He was awarded a Town Hall debut recital by the National
Guild of Piano Teachers competition and received a Fulbright scholarship for
study in Vienna. He also received an artist in residence appointment to Hawaii
by the Ford Foundation and numerous grants from the National Endowment for the
Arts. His concert tours have included Europe, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru,
and the United States. Floyd has recorded on the Advance and A.R.C. of Canada
labels, the Centaur Composers in the Computer Age series, and recently on the
New World label.
