An innovative group at the forefront of New Tango, Cuartetango String Quartet, invites you to an evening in the world of Argentinean tango. The Frost School's resident string quartet, the Bergonzi Quartet, is an annual delight of the Festival Miami season. This year the quartet will perform a program with the theme "Best of all Possible Worlds" that will include the Gliere Quartet, a group of original arrangements by Scott Flavin, and a "collage" of the Bergonzi's favorite movements from Dvorak, Barber, Ravel and Beethoven. Composed of artist faculty Glenn Basham and Scott Flavin, violins; Pamela McConnell, viola; and Ross Harbaugh, cello.

THE PARIS PIANO TRIO

French pianist Jean-Claude Pennetier, violist Regis Pasquier, and cellist Roland Pidoux, known in Europe as simply and elegantly "Les Musiciens" join clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein, to bring the Frost School of Music, Messaien's "Quartet for the End of Time". Having played together since childhood, Quest France has described the trio's performance as "a total fusion of tone, a weightless discourse in which each musician expresses himself with total spontaneity, this trio is the sought-after ideal in chamber music".

SWINGING BRAZILIAN JAZZ MACHINE
Nelson Faria, Ney Conceicao, and Kiko Freitas
Nelson Faria (guitar), Ney Conceicao (contrabass) and Kiko Freitas (drums), currently three of the most important jazz musicians in Brazil, form this "power trio" known as the Nosso Trio. The group emerged from the great musical affinity between these three members of Joao Bosco's band, the legendary Brazilian singer/songwriter. Using available dates in the schedule of concerts during the Joao Bosco tours, Nosso Trio became a tight, energetic and swinging Brazilian jazz machine.
Recognized virtuosos in their instruments, the three in-demand musicians are looked up to as interpreters and educators in the Brazilian and international musical scene, having performed with artists like Milton Nascimento, Leila Pinheiro, Paulo Moura, Ivan Lins, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Airto Moreira, Danilo Caymmi, Joao Donato, Moraes Moreira, Nana Vasconcelos, Robert Menescal and the legendary Michel Legrand, among others. In a stunning finale to the six-week long Festival Miami extravaganza, the Frost Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Helmuth Rilling; and the Frost Chorale, conducted by Jo-Michael Scheibe combine musical forces to present Haydn's masterpiece, The Creation. Featured guest soloists include, soprano, Helen Donath, tenor, Lothar Odinius, and bass, Nathan Berg. The Creation's brooding overture reproduces the brilliance of the first light shattering the primordial darkness. Such is Haydn's genius that the work maintains the initial excitement until its rousing conclusion. World renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling leads the Frost School of Music students in a performance that will dazzle you.
