GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS
The purpose of the Journal of Music Teacher Education is to disseminate
information about MENC's Society for Music Teacher Education and the ways
that SMTE can strengthen teacher education, to serve as a clearinghouse
for ideas among professors of music education, and to effect a sense of
unity among them. The journal, a publication of MENC, welcomes manuscripts
for possible publication. When submitting an artide, contributors should
adhere to the following guidelines:
- All artides must be related to music teacher education. Manuscripts may
be of a philosophical, historical, descriptive, or methodological nature.
Authors may also contribute book reviews and essays for Perspectives, a viewpoint
column.
- All articles should be double-spaced and not exceed ten pages.
- Manuscript style for quantitative studies should conform to the "B" style
of The Chicago Manual of Style (14th ed., 1993). Manuscript style for nonquantitative
and historical studies should conform to the "A" style of The
Chicago Manual of Style. Articles describing research should include discussion
of implications for teacher educators.
- Articles should be submitted with a cover page listing the author's name,
address, and current professional position, as well as style used.
- Contributors should send five copies of the article to the editor. These
