Paul Griffith is the Director of Recording Services for the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, holding a B.M. from the University of Miami in Music Engineering Technology. Mr. Griffith has worked in a variety of positions in the recording engineering field. They include staff recording engineer with DEOrecordings in Wisla, Poland; product specialist for Micro Technology Unlimited in Raleigh, NC; mastering engineer with P&A Audio in Gdansk, Poland; and lecturer/research assistant for the Technical University of Gdansk. He has also worked as a freelance engineer throughout the Southeastern United States, as well as throughout Poland. In addition to recording, mixing, editing and/or mastering more than 150 albums in various genres, he has written technical manuals, worked on the development of digital audio workstation software, edited and mixed both concerts and commercials for television and radio, designed recording studio facilities, and provided audio consultation for numerous churches, synagogues, and other facilities. Recent releases include Naxos' "American Classics: Jerome Moross" with the Hot Springs Music Festival Orchestra; "I Will Praise Him", a solo piano album from Kenon Renfrow; "Abrázame", an album of Spanish worship music from Calvary Chapel-Miami; "Favorite Cuban Music for Piano" by Conchita Betancourt; "Aceldama", a new opera by Thomas Sleeper; and "Celebrating Americans" from duo-pianists Kirk Whipple & Marilyn Morales. Soon-to-be-released recordings include "Paolo e Francesca" with the University of Miami Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theater; Frank Ticheli's "Symphony No. 1" and John Van der Slice's "SPECTERS" with the University of Miami Symphony Orchestra, Thomas Sleeper conducting; Maria Schneider's "Three Romances" with the University of Miami Concert Jazz Band; an album of original works for piano & Disklavier with J.B. Floyd; an album with the University of Miami Chorale, Jo-Michael Scheibe conducting; a second solo piano album with Kenon Renfrow; an English language album of worship music from Calvary Chapel-Miami; and an album of soprano-clarinet-piano trios with Jana Young, Margaret Donaghue & Russell Young.
Mr. Griffith has been a member of
the Audio Engineering Society since 1986.
