       What you get:

  • The student member of the AES immediately benefits by reduced cost of membership, which includes the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society, and reduced costs of attending AES conferences and conventions.
  • Student members receive priority for any tours, clinics, or lectures for which admission is limited.
  • The opportunity to be a member of a prestigious professional society, network with leading professionals in the audio industry, and expand your knowledge beyond the classroom.
  • A chance to participate in the annual Student Music Recording & Scholarly Awards competition and apply for educational grants.
  • Becoming an official AES member supports the local section, allows you to get involved in planning events, and provides financial assistance.

           How to apply:

  • Just fill out the Application available below or from the official AES website.   You only have to complete the first page, and enter the names of two faculty members for your references.
  • The cost is $40 dollars for one year, which includes a subscription to the AES Journal and discount admission to the annual US and international conventions. (New for 2002, $20 student membership.  You will not receive a printed AES Journal subscription with this discounted membership.  An application with this option is not yet available, so contact AES for more information.)
  • Mail your application and fee to AES, and you should receive your membership card and first journal issue within a few weeks.
