Music Engineering graduates receive jobs throughout the audio industry as recording engineers, audio systems engineers, multimedia authors, manufacturer's technical representatives, and audio designers, or accept positions in sound reinforcement companies, audio and video postproduction studios, studio acoustical design, and installation firms. Students seeking more artistic careers have taken positions with recording studios, working as mixing engineers, where their recording credits range from Vladimir Horowitz to the film score for Batman. Graduates have recorded and produced some of the best musicians in the business including: Aaron Neville, Bee Gees, Chicago Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Everclear, Gloria Estefan, Incubus, Jeff Beck, Johnny Cash, Kyuss, L7, Los Lobas, Madonna, Michael Jackson, New Found Glory, New York Philharmonic, Prince, Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crowe, Stevie Wonder, Wallflowers, and many others. Other students working in motion picture sound have mixed the soundtracks for many outstanding motion pictures. For example, one graduate, Myron Nettinga, was awarded an Oscar for Best Sound for co-mixing the motion picture Black Hawk Down.

Because of the program's strong reputation, placement of graduates is annually strong. Moreover, the many graduates of the program, now working in the industry, send many job leads back to enrolled students, greatly increasing their selection of employment opportunities, and easing the transition to a professional career. Still, success in any career path demands hard work and ambition on the part of every individual.

Our overriding goal is to fill the international demand for highly qualified music engineers, through an emphasis on contemporary theoretical and practical skills. It is this emphasis on cutting edge knowledge which makes our program unique in the field of music engineering education.

For a partial list of our graduates and the companies they work for, see our alumni list.
