Students use the recording
studios to strengthen their recording and mixing skills, and the computer
laboratories to strengthen music post production and programming skills.
Hardware labs are used to teach students how to design and build electrical
circuits. Students attend classes taught by a Music Engineering professor
using a server computer, and use computer-aided instruction without a professor.
In addition, homework assignments might require use of these computers;
for example, DSP design problems are assigned to the students enrolled in
MMI 504, a senior-level course.
