Welcome to the Music Engineering Program
at the University of Miami

These pages will introduce you to our undergraduate and graduate degree programs - each was the first of its kind in the United States. Over the past 25 years, the Music Engineering program has led the way in innovative academics, and our graduates have contributed significantly to the music and audio industries.

The Music Engineering program provides a multidisciplinary four-year Bachelor of Music undergraduate degree within a music school setting. All students learn the art and science of recording studio and live music recording, mixing and signal processing, as well as traditional music studies in performance and theory. In addition, we offer a two-year Master of Science graduate degree for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering or computer science. These students learn the software and hardware design of audio systems and perform independent research.
