LeiderAssistant Professor - Music Engineering cleider@miami.edu Phone: 305-284-7628 Fax: 305-284-6475 Colby Leider is an assistant professor of music media and industry and teaches in the music engineering technology program. Leider holds degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and music composition degrees from Dartmouth and Princeton. Prior to his UM post, he taught briefly at Florida International University. A composer, inventor, author, and consultant, Leider has participated in conferences and festivals throughout the world, and his music has received prizes from the Bourges Festival and the International Computer Music Association. He is a holder of a provisional patent for a hand-held device capable of distributing, routing, and spatializing an arbitrary number of channels of digital audio into an arbitrary number of loudspeakers in real time. Leider's first book, The Digital Audio Workstation Complete, is slated for publication by McGraw-Hill this summer.
